Connection is a skill. Let’s practice!

Workshops & Intensives

Strong relationships don’t fall apart because people don’t care. They struggle because most of us were never taught how to stay connected when emotions run high, stress builds, or old patterns get activated.

My relationship workshops and intensives are designed for couples who want practical tools, emotional depth, and real change. This work focuses not just on insight, but on creating new relational experiences—ways of communicating, listening, and responding that build safety, trust, and closeness over time.

Couples Workshops

Learn the skills. Practice together.

Image shows the workshop where people are together and discussing some thing

What these workshops are

Couples workshops are 4-hour, skills-based, psychoeducational experiences with guided partner exercises. They are designed to help couples strengthen communication, increase emotional safety, and practice new ways of relating in a structured and supportive group setting.

Workshops are intentionally kept small (maximum 8 couples) to support safety, connection, and meaningful practice.

Workshops are educational and experiential, not couples therapy. You’ll be learning alongside other couples, which often helps normalize common struggles and reduce shame while practicing new skills in real time.

A good fit if you want to:

Improve communication without being in crisis
Understand why conflict escalates and how to slow it down
Feel less alone in your relationship challenges
Learn by practicing alongside other couples
Strengthen connection and emotional safety
Create personalized homework and practices so growth continues between sessions.

What you’ll learn and practice

During a 4-hour workshop, couples are supported to:

Normalize conflict and reduce shame around differences.

Understand stress, emotional reactivity, and nervous-system responses.

Strengthen connection through appreciation.

Learn and practice core communication skills:

Clarify personal responsibility and relational intention while identifying the relationship you want to create together.
Integrate skills into everyday relationship life by identifying one or two realistic next steps to try at home.

Couples Intensives

Go deeper. Make focused change.

What intensives are

Couples intensives are private, customized relationship experiences designed for couples who want focused support without committing to long-term weekly therapy.

Intensives are especially well suited for couples who:

  • Have limited availability or scheduling challenges
  • Want to make progress quickly
  • Are navigating a specific rupture, transition, or high-impact issue
  • Want space to go deeper emotionally

Unlike workshops, all of the focus is on you and your relationship. The pace, structure, and depth are tailored entirely to your needs.

A good fit if you want to:

Break a repeating or escalated conflict cycle
Work through something emotionally charged or stuck
Make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time
Receive individualized attention and guidance
Balance depth with limited time or busy schedules
In a few focused hours, couples often cover the depth of multiple traditional therapy sessions.

How intensives work

Initial consultation

Assessment of your relationship history and current challenges
Individual sessions with each partner
Extended joint sessions (often 3–4 hours at a time)
Integration practices and support between sessions

Format & Availability

Fully private (one couple)
Higher investment due to individualized format
Offered online and in person
Flexible scheduling, including weekends and later evenings

Cost

The fee for a couples intensive is $1,000 per couple. This flat fee reflects the full structure of the intensive, including assessment, individual sessions, and extended couples work held together as one coordinated process.

A 50% prepayment is required to reserve the date and time, with the remaining balance due prior to the session. Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance are eligible for a refund of the prepayment; cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable due to the time reserved and preparation involved.

Couples intensives are offered on a private-pay basis and are not covered by insurance. Sliding-scale options may be available in limited circumstances.

Cost Breakdown

The couples intensive includes the following components:

  • Initial 60-minute intake session and assessment of relationship challenges
Includes review of intake questionnaires and clarification of goals and focus
  • Two individual 50-minute sessions (one with each partner)
Individual sessions support pacing, clarity, and safety in the joint work
  • Extended joint couples session (4 hours)
Focused couples work, guided communication, and skills practice

Rather than billing these sessions separately, they are offered together as one coordinated process.

LGBTQ+ Workshops & Intensives

Queer-Centered Relationship Support

These LGBTQ+ workshops and couples intensives are designed specifically for queer, trans, and gender-diverse couples who want practical relationship skills in a space that truly understands their lived reality. This is not standard couples therapy with inclusive language layered on — the structure, assumptions, and pace of the work are built around LGBTQ+ experience from the ground up.
We recognize that many LGBTQ+ relationships develop without clear cultural templates, and that minority stress, visibility concerns, family rejection or conditional acceptance, and internalized shame can deeply affect communication, emotional regulation, and conflict.

WHAT MAKES THIS LGBTQ-AFFIRMATIVE

Not Based on Heteronormative Relationship Models

Your relationship is not measured against straight, cisgender, or traditional norms. We do not assume fixed roles, linear relationship paths, monogamy as default, or a single “right” way to be a couple.
This work meets your relationship where it actually is.

Minority Stress Is Explicitly Addressed

We actively account for how minority stress shows up in relationships — including hypervigilance, conflict escalation, shutdown, people-pleasing, fear of being “too much,” or fear of being harmful.
You don’t have to educate your therapist or justify why these dynamics matter.

Affirming of Queer, Trans, and Non-Traditional Relationships

These workshops and intensives are designed to support:

  • queer, trans, and gender-diverse couples
  • couples outside traditional relationship scripts
  • partners navigating identity, visibility, safety, or family dynamics

Your relationship gets to define itself — not conform to external expectations.

Facilitated by a Queer Therapist

This work is facilitated by a therapist who identifies as a lesbian / queer person. You are not being translated, corrected, or subtly evaluated through a heteronormative lens. This allows the work to go deeper, faster, and with less guarding.
