Connection is a skill. Let’s practice!

Couples Therapy Intensives

Sometimes, weekly therapy is not enough. Couples therapy intensives offer a deeper, more focused space to slow down, understand what is happening beneath recurring conflict, and begin making meaningful changes.

My couples therapy intensives in Salt Lake City are designed for partners who want more than surface-level communication tools. This is a space for deep relational work, guided support, and practical steps toward lasting change.

In our work together, we focus on the patterns that keep you stuck, the emotional reactions underneath those patterns, and the communication skills that help create more safety, clarity, and connection. Each intensive is personalized to your relationship and your goals.

Couples Intensives

Go deeper. Make focused change.

What intensives are

Couples intensives are private, customized relationship experiences designed for couples who want focused support without committing to long-term weekly therapy.

Intensives are especially well suited for couples who:

  • Have limited availability or scheduling challenges
  • Want to make progress quickly
  • Are navigating a specific rupture, transition, or high-impact issue
  • Want space to go deeper emotionally

Unlike workshops, all of the focus is on you and your relationship. The pace, structure, and depth are tailored entirely to your needs.

A good fit if you want to:

Break a repeating or escalated conflict cycle
Work through something emotionally charged or stuck
Make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time
Receive individualized attention and guidance
Balance depth with limited time or busy schedules
In a few focused hours, couples often cover the depth of multiple traditional therapy sessions.

Cost

The fee for a couples intensive is $1,000 per couple. This flat fee reflects the full structure of the intensive, including assessment, individual sessions, and extended couples work held together as one coordinated process.

A 50% prepayment is required to reserve the date and time, with the remaining balance due prior to the session. Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance are eligible for a refund of the prepayment; cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable due to the time reserved and preparation involved.

Couples intensives are offered on a private-pay basis and are not covered by insurance. Sliding-scale options may be available in limited circumstances.

Cost Breakdown

The couples intensive includes the following components:

  • Initial 60-minute intake session and assessment of relationship challenges
Includes review of intake questionnaires and clarification of goals and focus
  • Two individual 50-minute sessions (one with each partner)
Individual sessions support pacing, clarity, and safety in the joint work
  • Extended joint couples session (4 hours)
Focused couples work, guided communication, and skills practice

Rather than billing these sessions separately, they are offered together as one coordinated process.

LGBTQ+ Intensives

Queer-Centered Relationship Support

These LGBTQ+ couples intensives in Salt Lake City, Utah are designed for queer, trans, and gender-diverse couples who want focused, affirming relationship support in a space that fully understands the realities shaping their lives. This is not standard couples therapy with more inclusive language — the work itself is built around LGBTQ+ experience, with attention to the specific pressures, patterns, and relational dynamics that can emerge over time.

Many LGBTQ+ couples are navigating connection without reliable social templates, while also carrying the impact of minority stress. Visibility concerns, family rejection or conditional acceptance, and internalized shame can all shape emotional safety, conflict, closeness, and the ability to stay connected under pressure.

WHAT MAKES THIS LGBTQ-AFFIRMATIVE

Not Based on Heteronormative Relationship Models

Your relationship is not being evaluated through straight, cisgender, or traditional norms. We do not assume fixed roles, one linear path, monogamy as the automatic standard, or a single “right” way to build a partnership.
This intensive is designed to work with your relationship as it actually exists.

Minority Stress Is Explicitly Addressed

These intensives make space for the ways minority stress can affect a couple’s emotional system — including hypervigilance, shutdown, escalation, people-pleasing, fear of being “too much,” or fear of causing harm.
You do not need to spend your time educating your therapist or defending why these patterns matter.

Affirming of Queer, Trans, and Non-Traditional Relationships

Your relationship gets to define itself — not conform to external expectations.

These intensives are designed to support:

  • queer, trans, and gender-diverse couples
  • couples outside traditional relationship scripts
  • partners navigating identity, visibility, safety, or family dynamics

Your relationship deserves support that honors who you are, rather than asking you to fit an outside model.

Facilitated by a Queer Therapist

This work is facilitated by a therapist who identifies as a lesbian / queer person. You are not being filtered through a heteronormative framework or subtly pushed toward someone else’s definition of relationship health. That allows the work to move with more precision, more trust, and less self-protection.
